Welcome to Nutrition Advisor Module One
This is the first module of the Nutrition Advisor course in Nutritional Therapy and Eastern Nutrition. The course is completed online through independent study, recorded teaching, quizzes and written assignments.

Professional recognition
The Nutrition Advisor course is accredited by the Federation of Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (FNTP). Following successful completion of the full course, graduates may apply to the FNTP for professional registration as a Nutrition Advisor.
Progression
Students who successfully complete the Nutrition Advisor course may apply to progress to the more advanced Nutritional Therapy with Eastern Nutrition course.

Complete the quiz
Complete the online self-assessment quiz to check your understanding of the module content.
Submit the assignment
Complete all of the written assignment questions and upload your work through the assignment page.
Module One is complete when you have studied the lesson, passed the quiz and submitted the Unit 1 assignment.
Assignment feedback
Assignments are normally marked within 21 days. You may begin studying the next module while awaiting feedback. However, we recommend that you read and apply the marker’s feedback before completing and submitting your next assignment.
About the course
The Nutrition Advisor course provides an integrated study of Western nutritional principles and traditional Eastern approaches to diet and wellbeing. Students explore the importance of food, digestion, lifestyle, temperament and humoral balance, together with their influence on health and disease.
Learning objectives
By completing the course, students should develop the ability to:
- Understand the principal concepts used in traditional Unani nutritional and dietary practice.
- Apply a traditional Unani approach to nutrition when supporting health and wellbeing.
- Understand the relationship between food, digestion, temperament and humoral balance.
- Understand nutrition and dietary therapy within the wider Unani approach to maintaining health and addressing disease.
- Advise on and modify diets appropriately according to individual needs.
- Recognise how diet, lifestyle and environmental influences may contribute to internal imbalance.
- Understand the relationship between diet, health and humoral balance.
- Understand how diet and lifestyle may influence temperament.
